A Relaxed Five-Day Eastern Cyprus Itinerary

The east coast is ideal for travellers who want beautiful sea days without feeling hurried. This five-day idea uses Larnaka, Ayia Napa, Protaras and nearby coastal highlights as a flexible route, not a strict timetable. Adjust it to the season, the weather and the needs of your group.
Day 1: arrive and find your rhythm
After arriving in Cyprus, prioritise an easy journey to your accommodation. If you’re staying in Larnaka, a waterfront walk can be a relaxing introduction. If continuing to Ayia Napa or Protaras, save demanding sightseeing for another day. Arrange the airport transfer or vehicle collection in advance when possible.
Day 2: give the beach your attention
Enjoy a proper beach day around your chosen resort. In Ayia Napa, you might select a popular sandy bay; in Protaras, Fig Tree Bay is a well-known option. Consider sun conditions and lifeguard guidance, especially with children or less-confident swimmers. Leave the afternoon flexible.
Day 3: explore the Cape Greco coastline
Set aside time for coastal scenery rather than racing from one viewpoint to another. Cape Greco has walking opportunities, rocky terrain and exposed sections; choose routes within your abilities, bring water and sun protection, and follow access restrictions. Boat excursions are an alternative, subject to suitable weather and operating schedules.
Day 4: the other side of your holiday base
If you’re staying in Protaras, spend some time around Ayia Napa; if based in Ayia Napa, explore the quieter resort atmosphere around Protaras or Pernera. Think of this as a chance to discover a different pace, not necessarily to add more attractions to your checklist.
Day 5: something memorable and an easy return
Make your final day fit your flight time: a short beach visit, a relaxed breakfast or a stop in Larnaka may be enough. Leave realistic time for checkout, fuel return, traffic and airport procedures. Do not schedule remote excursions close to departure.
Make it your own
- With children: choose fewer transitions, shaded breaks and age-appropriate beach facilities.
- Without a car: select accommodation near the activities you value most, and check local transport or excursion pickup points.
- In cooler months: emphasise walks and cultural stops, checking seasonal operator hours.
- For extra privacy: consider a villa base, but check transport needs and essential amenities.
